So what's the term "boredom eating" . . . really all about???
Well . . . It originates from the Japanese term "Kuchisabishii" . . . which means . . .
And this means . . . when our stomach is "full" . . . but our mouth is "lonely" . . .
So will EAT!!!
You see . . . "Boredom eating" is a type of "emotional eating . . . just like comfort eating, stress eating or anxiety eating.
So I guess the first question for today is this . . . how do we "know" . . . if we are "boredom eating"???
Well . . . if you feel like you're "constantly" eating . . . and "nothing" seems to "fill" you up . . . then this is "boredom eating"
And the brain chemical we spoke of last week called . . . "dopamine" . . . is running amuck in your head.
This kind of "eating" . . . could also be a "sign" . . . that you're "mindless eating" . . . which is when the mind is sidetracked by something like . . . TV, conversation or a distraction of some kind.
And now . . . this is called . . . "lack of awareness".
So what's it really all about???
Well . . . as we spoke last week . . . the brain chemical called "dopamine" . . . is a neurotransmitter that's tied together with our feelings of "reward" and "pleasure" . . .
Remember . . . it's "dopamine" . . . that keeps "pulling" us towards "habits" and "addictions".
And simply put . . . when we're "bored" . . . and have nothing to stimulate our brain . . . "dopamine" levels "DROP" . . . and with this . . . it triggers us to take an "action" that will bring those levels back up to a normal range . . .
And to accomplish that mission . . . "WE EAT GUILTY PLEASURE FOODS"!!!
This now . . . becomes a "HABIT"
And this is one of the hardest eating habits to "OVERCOME".
So let's take tomorrow to figure out how to "STOP" BOREDOM EATING!
