Correcting the "Vagus Nerve" - continued

So, let's take today . . . and talk about another way to help our "vagal tone" correct itself . . .

And that would be . . . the "position" we "sleep" in . . .

You see . . . the "position" that we "sleep" in . . . is very important to the "stimulation" of the "vagus nerve".

And guess what???

For those of you that are "back" sleepers . . . this DECREASES "vagus nerve" activation . . . NOT GOOD PEOPLE!!!

And . . . lying on our "stomach" . . . can put "pressure" on the "vagus nerve" . . . which can help to "stimulate" it . . . but . . . still is not the "BEST" position to sleep in for "activation" . . .

That would be . . . sleeping on the "RIGHT" side . . . which shows a "greater" stimulation than sleeping on the "left" side.

Now . . . some other ways to "stimulate" this nerve would be . . .

Alternate-nostril breathing

Apply "cold" compresses to the face and the back of the neck

Breathe deeply and slowly

Coughing or contracting the stomach muscles

Eat a whole-food diet . . . meaning NO processed or packaged foods

Eating more fiber rich foods

Engaging the larynx by singing, humming or gargling loudly

Exercise regularly to stimulate gut flow

Foot and neck messages

Getting direct sunlight

Intermittent fasting

Laughing often and out loud

Learning to love cold temperatures

Meditation

Taking a "spore-forming" probiotic

Taking Omega 3 fatty acids or eating more seafood

Taking supplements like zinc or serotonin

And also eating a "vagus nerve diet" . . .

This "diet" consist of . . .

Foods that are "rich" in Omega 3 fatty acids like . . . salmon, mackerel and sardines . . .

You see . . . Omega 3 fatty acids . . . help reduce "inflammation" throughout the body . . . including the "brain".

And this can have a "positive" impact on our mood and cognitive function along with our "vagus nerve".

Also foods like . . . spinach, seeds, nuts, bananas and poultry . . . which are high in dietary "tryptophan" can help.

You see . . . "tryptophan" is metabolized in the "gut" . . . which has the ability to "improve" the communication highway called the "vagus nerve" . . . from the gut to the brain.

So ultimately . . . this "vagus nerve" stimulation . . . may be the "key" to "improving" our health!!!!

Now . . . as we know . . . "inflammation" is the "underlying" cause to most "diseases . . .

And due to this "communication highway" called the "vagus nerve . . . the "brain" can better guide and correct the body's "inflammation" system for optimal health.

So have a great weekend and next week let's regroup because this CONTINUES to be a very important topic.
