Empowerment!

Today's Health Awareness Tip: is about "Empowerment". Yesterday I did an interview with Rebecca Ellert and Heather Driscoll from Back to Eden (thanks ladies for inviting me to talk about my theory to optimal health. It was a pleasure). We spoke about my journey with cancer, my healing and how I'm helping others today with this life changing information.
In times of crisis . . . no matter what that is . . . illness, disease, loss of a loved one, losing a job or even a pandemic like today, when something negative confronts us in our life, the "not" knowing what the future holds becomes a feeling of "fear".
Human beings have a deep-seated desire for certainty and control . . . that is, the more in control we feel, the more effective, successful and productive we feel we can be. But take that feeling of control away from us and we feel we lose all our Empowerment.
So it doesn't matter if it was me being diagnosed with terminal cancer 11 years or this pandemic of today. The feeling of fear and the unknowing are the same. The questions in our mind are all relatable. Whether is was the trauma I had in my life 11 years ago or the trauma we feel today with this pandemic. The uncertainty is the fear and with that we feel we lose our control.
Empowerment is the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life. You are "still" the authority in your life, although it might not always seem that way.
When external or internal circumstances impose conditions that are not of your choosing - you might feel powerless. But "self-empowerment" is seeking the solution . . . rather than fixating on the problem. Your mind is a powerful thing - when you fill it with positive thoughts - your life will start to change.
When I was diagnosed with terminal cancer 11 years ago, instead of giving in to the negative thoughts and feelings . . . I accessed the situation I found myself in . . . I then took a step back to be objective and then I pulled positive feeling from it. This was my "empowerment". Being persistent in my cause to find answer to heal, Keeping my mind, spirit and body positive to what life had to offer. And I believe that's why I'm still here today. Everyday you wake, no matter how grim the situation looks . . . pull something positive out of that day. You may have to look really, really hard at first, but I know you can do it.. And before you know it . . . the positive will come easier and easier to find. And then one day you will awake to find that you have your control and "Empowerment" back where it belongs. "In the you . . . I know you are!
