Healthy Food "Swaps"

So today . . . let's talk about our "FOOD CHOICES" . . .
Because . . . let's be real PEOPLE . . .
We don't "always" make the best choices for "optimal health"!!!!!!!!
Okay . . . so the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) says . . .
"An eating plan that helps promote health and manages weight . . . includes a variety of healthy foods."
I always tell my clients . . . to be "healthy" . . . our world needs to have a "RAINBOW"
So what do I mean by this statement???
Well . . . when you eat a meal . . . any meal . . . it needs to be an array of color that contains everything from . . . dark leafy greens . . . to oranges, yellow, red and green peppers, red tomatoes, white garlic, red onions, green broccoli, orange sweet potatoes . . . the list goes on and on.
Even our spices should be colorful . . . like black pepper, pink Himalayan salt or orange turmeric.
You see . . . "healthy color" . . . means . . . lots of "nutritional value"!!!
So let's break it down to better understand.
"Fruits" - should be fresh or frozen only . . . why you ask???
Well . . . fruits that are "canned" or "dried" . . . contain a LOT of "sugar" and therefore . . . would be defeating the purpose of "nutritional value".
And some great fruits to consume on a daily basis would be . . . apples, bananas, mangos, kiwi and pineapple
"Vegetables" - again . . . should be fresh or frozen . . . not pre-packaged mixes
And color, color and more color
"Carbohydrates" - STOP eating carbo's that aren't "COMPLIANT"
Eat healthy carbohydrates like . . . sweet potatoes, Basmati rice, Wild rice, gluten free pastas or even magic noodles
"Meat" and "fish" - should be baked, grilled or sautéed in "olive oil" . . . NOTHING FRIED OR BREADED
And we should consume white meat chicken, wild caught fish or grass-fed LEAN beef
And finally . . . what about our "COMFORT" foods???
Well . . . to give you a few examples . . .
Prepared fruit juices like orange juice . . . "swap for" . . . fresh fruit
Beef burgers . . . "swap for" . . . chicken burgers
Potato chips . . . "swap for" . . . freshly made popcorn (no pre-packaged kind)
Granola bars . . . "swap for" . . . fresh bowl of oatmeal
Milkshakes . . . "swap for" . . . a homemade smoothie
Popsicles . . . "swap for" . . . frozen grapes
Chicken wraps . . . "swap for" . . . lettuce wraps
Buttered toast . . . "swap for" . . . avocado on toast
There's a whole world of "possibilities" out there . . .
We just need to be an . . . "out of the box thinker"
And add a little "RAINBOW" to our life.
So tomorrow, let's talk about eating out of "boredom"
