The past few days I've spoken about the toxins that remain in our body after our immune system tries to kill and eliminate an overgrowth of "bad" bacteria from the sugar we consume and the remaining toxic effect of drinking alcohol.
So today let's understand the process.
There are hundreds and maybe even thousands of detox programs out there today.
And you ask . . . how do we choose???
Well . . . this is my thought about detoxing . . .
First . . . most detox programs don't do it correctly . . . meaning . . . in order to complete and accomplish the mission of total detoxing . . . our very important "lymphatic system" must be working properly. And due to this Western diet we all love so much . . . this system is not functioning as it should . . . because if it was . . . we wouldn't need to do a detox in the first place.
If the "lymphatic system" is clogged or stagnant and unable to flush out toxins from the body . . . then all the detoxing in the world, will not work.
So first and foremost . . . we must get the lymphatic system flushing again. I've spoken often of this in many other Health tips. That is the first most important step to cleansing the body.
Okay next . . . the other reason most detox programs don't work . . . is due to the program trying to detox a specific orgran . . . like the liver, pancreas or kidneys.
The point that they're missing is . . . in order to detox an organ . . . you need to cleanse and correct the body's "Internal Dialogue" first. That would be like changing 1 battery in the remote when it contains 3. It doesn't make sense! The remote still isn't going to work correctly.
So today let's talk about cleaning the sugar and its toxins out of the body. We'll deal with alcohol after we finish this topic.
Okay . . . so the first question most people ask is this . . . How do I stop the "cravings" so I "can" stop consuming sugar?
And that's a great question!
So here's a little trick.
As we now know . . . the reason we crave sugar is due to the "bad" bacteria in us needing to be "fed". And it will stop at nothing until you give in and feed it.
So . . . to stop that craving . . . eat a "healthy fat"!
You see . . . "healthy" fats first . . . give us a full feeling, so our mind thinks we're satisfied.
And second, this fat actually reduces and/or stops cravings for sugars and refined carbohydrates. And this is why . . .
As we know . . . "unhealthy" carbs cause blood glucose fluctuation that can contribute to weight gain and also metabolic syndrome, which increases the risk for heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.
Where many "healthy" fat foods are "luscious" and do not cause an insulin release, so they keep your blood sugar much more stable. And stable is good.
Many "healthy fats" are also "fiber" filled . . . and remember what I told you the other day about the food source for our "good" bacteria??? You got it . . . "fiber" feeds our army of defense and stops the "bad" bacteria from craving sugar.
So what are some healthy fat foods?
Well . . . that would be avocados, olives, almonds, walnuts, macadamias, chia seeds, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, hard cheese (only hard), eggs, and fatty fish like salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines and herring.
My personal go-to favorite is a hot cup of organic chicken or beef bone broth.
I can sip on that all day and not crave one thing.
