How to "fix" BOREDOM eating


Okay . . . so today . . . let's talk about ways to "STOP" BOREDOM eating


And right on the "top" of that list is . . .


Keeping a "food diary" . . . Why you ask???


Well . . . "boredom eating" . . . actually stems from "poor" awareness of ones eating habits.


So keeping a "food diary" . . . will help you realize "WHY" you're eating


Next up . . . "meal planning"


This is important because "meal planning" helps us to "avoid" emotional eating, bingeing and making "unhealthy" dietary food choices.


People that "prepare" regular "healthy" meals and snacks . . . are more satisfied throughout the day . . . and therefore . . . less apt to eat out of "boredom".


Other things we can do would be . . .


Find a project to do with your hands . . . this keeps the mind busy and "not" thinking of food.


Carrying a bottle of "water" with you at all times . . . and therefore drinking instead of eating.


Going for a walk or doing some kind of physical exercise actually releases "dopamine"


Don't keep "unhealthy" snacks in the house.


And my favorite little "secrets" . . . "BRUSHING YOUR TEETH"


Okay . . . so LISTEN UP PEOPLE!!!


Normally . . . the "first" taste of any food . . . sends a signal to the brain to "release" the chemical called "dopamine" . . . which we now know . . . the "lack of" . . . is the chemical that "keeps" pulling us back to wanting those "guilty pleasure" foods. And with this . . . a "habit" of "boredom eating" now begins.


But . . . if you "brush" your teeth "instead" of eating that "boredom food" when you're not "really" hungry . . . this changes the "taste bud sensors" in the mouth . . .


And . . . "problem solved!!!


Okay . . . so one more little piece of information about "boredom eating"


Did you know . . . there's a "connection" between "ADHD" and "boredom" eating???


Well . . . studies show that people with ADHD often deal with "boredom", stress and intense feelings by overeating in order to "soothe" themselves.


And as we know from previous Health tips . . . one trademark of "ADHD" . . . is LOW LEVELS of the neurotransmitter called . . . "DOPAMINE".


And . . . due to "LACK" of adequate levels in the brain . . . people with ADHD . . . now become "chemically wired" to "SEEK" more . . .


This is due to the body naturally wanting to be . . . in "balance".


And with this . . . they are constantly looking for a "greater" response in the brain's "reward system".


You see . . . people with ADHD . . . have "less" diffusion of "dopamine" in the brain . . . so they don't get the same degree of "satisfaction" from doing ordinary tasks or consuming foods that someone "without" ADHD does.


So the question for another day is this . . . is "dopamine" stimulation an answer to "ADHD"???


Okay, so next week . . . let's talk about another reason we "eat" . . . but the body "really" isn't "hungry".
