How to "SLEEP CORRECTLY" - the big question!

Okay . . . so I've done many, many Health Tips on "sleep" before.
We've spoken about the chemicals in the brain such as dopamine, endorphin and serotonin . . . hormones such as cortisol . . . how certain foods and drink affect our sleep . . . our liver's toxin release . . . and even that between the hours of 1-3 pm . . . the "bad" bacteria that lurks deep within us reproduces and keeps us awake at night.
BUT . . . there's 1 more attribute to a "good" night's sleep . . .
So the "BIG" question for today is this . . .
Are you a . . .
"Back" sleeper . . .
"Stomach" sleeper . . .
"Left side" sleeper . . .
Or a "right side" sleeper?????????????
Because believe it or not . . . this simple act of positioning . . . can have a lot to do with how well we "SLEEP" . . . and . . . how "HEALTHY" we are!
Why you ask???
Well . . . due to the human body being a delicate, fine tuned machine . . . it not only needs the "right" food to fuel it . . . it needs "proper" positioning to "FUNCTION" correctly also!
So let's start with those of you that are "BACK" sleeper . . . is this "good" or "bad" for "sleeping" and our health???
Well . . . "BACK" sleeping can not only lead to a sore "lower back" . . . it can also put "pressure" on the "inferior vena cava" . . . which is a large vein that carries "blood" from the torso, pelvis and lower limbs . . . back to the heart.
And this "blood" that pockets in the abdomen and lower extremities when we lay on our "back" for "TOO" long . . . is "deoxygenated" blood . . . meaning filled with toxins and "not" enough "oxygen". . .
You see . . . the "inferior vena cava" is responsible for the transport of "this" blood to the "heart" to become "oxygenated" . . . meaning FILTERED from debris and toxins and filled with fresh oxygen.
And sleeping on our "back" can "BLOCK" this blood "return" to the heart causing hypotension, tachycardia, lower extremity edema and elevated liver enzymes.
So "sleeping" on our "back" for any length of time . . . many NOT be a good thing.
Okay . . . but that's just one position . . . and tomorrow we'll talk about "STOMACH" sleeper.
Is this a "GOOD" position to sleep??????
Well . . . tomorrow we'll find out.
