Is that yummy "Caramel" addictive?

So the question for today is this . . . why is "caramel" sooooooo addictive???

Well . . . simply put . . . the sweet and fatty elements in "caramel" . . . CREATE a more complex taste that changes with every bite . . . which keeps the brain and body "craving" more and more.

You see . . . this phenomenon is known as . . . "hedonic escalation".

"Caramel" RELEASES an unusually "intense" rush of "morphine-like" endogenous opioids or in other words . . . the brain chemical called "endorphins".

And we "crave" this sweet and/or salty like treat when the body's "cells" feel a little "sluggish".

You see . . . the body actually "does" need some sugar and salt to function properly . . . and if these levels get too low . . . the body "demands" that you get it back in balance . . . as fast as possible . . .

Hence . . . we look for a "guilty" treat.

"Caramel" . . . is a time-tested flavor that brings the body a feeling of "nostalgia" . . . calm . . . and satisfaction . . .

Well . . . that's until it wears off . . . and we need more to maintain our "high".

So what are some "side effects" of "caramel"???

Well . . . that would be . . .

Energy crashes

Fatigue

Type 2 diabetes

High blood sugar

Obesity

Weight gain

And regular consumption of "caramel" can cause an "increase" in "triglycerides" . . . which we all know can raise the risk of "heart disease".

So tomorrow, let's continue with "caramel" and our "blood sugar" (glucose)
