Did you know there are 5 senses we need for "mindfulness"???
And they would be . . . sight, sound, touch, taste and smell . . .
And a simple exercise to sharpen our senses for "mindfulness" is this . . .
In this moment in time . . . right now . . . stop what you're doing . . . "listen" to what you hear . . . what you "see" around you . . . and what you "smell" . . .
Now . . . "touch" something close to you . . . and if nothing is there . . . touch your clothes or your skin . . . what do you feel?
And what about "taste"???
If you're not eating something at this moment in time . . . "taste" the air . . . take a deep breath through the mouth . . . what do you taste . . . or lick your skin . . . and taste "YOU"!
You are now one with "YOU" and your surroundings.
So today . . . my "mindful" moment is about one of the 5 senses . . . "mindful SIGHT".
You see . . . our "eyes" see many things during the day . . . some that we remember . . . but "most" that we don't.
We're normally so busy or "distracted" . . . that we don't "really" SEE the beauty of our surroundings . . . or our "life".
We just "see" objects.
But . . . to truly be in that "mindful" moment . . . we need to "see" object for what they "really" are . . . like their color, shape, texture or its surroundings.
And with this . . . we can "improve" our "awareness" in life by practicing "mindful SIGHT" . . .
So the question you need to ask yourself is this . . . are we really "seeing" the whole picture???
My moment of "mindful sight" this weekend was watching our geese in the pond.
You see . . . they were on the beach sunning themselves . . . but when they saw me coming . . . they took their babies to the water to "protect" them.
I not only saw the beauty of their color and the sleekness of their features that helped to keep them afloat . . . I saw the look in their "eyes" as they watched me on the beach.
The momma looking forward to a path of safety and the daddy turning his head to watch me and make sure I wasn't coming any closer.
They "too" were having a "mindful" moment being aware of their surrounding, protecting their babies and practicing "mindfulness".
So let me ask you this . . . have you ever been in a moment where someone has asked you what just happened . . . and either you didn't know . . . or you got the answer to that question wrong???
Well . . . this is because you "weren't" using your 5 senses in that "mindful" moment.
And this is where so many of us go wrong on so many levels in life. . .
We not only put ourselves in danger because we don't paying attention . . . we miss out on the experiences of true life.
Our geese weren't just an object of "beauty" on the pond . . . they were also a lesson in "family unity" and "mindfulness".
So practice the sense of "SIGHT" today.
When you "look" at something . . . really "look" . . . and discover every aspect of that object . . . like its shape, color, size, texture . . . and even its actions.
Look at the "detailed" beauty of that object.
