Making "changes" in the "New Year"

Okay PEOPLE . . . so LISTEN UP . . . if your family and friends don't "always" FOLLOW ME . . . now's the time . . . because we've got a lot to talk about.
So the question for today is this . . . what are "New Year's Resolutions" . . . REALLY all about???
Well . . . it's about giving ourselves the "permission" . . . a "blank slate" . . . a "do-over" so to speak . . . and an opportunity . . . to "get things right".
This concept is called . . . "self-efficacy" . . . which is an individual's belief in his or her capacity to execute behaviors necessary to produce specific performance attainments.
Meaning . . . by sticking to a goal with "mindfulness" . . . and following through on it . . . we now have the sense of "CONTROL" over what's happening in our life"!
This is why we make "New Years" Resolutions . . . we "want" and "need" that "control"!
But . . . why don't we stick to them???
Well . . . most people "blame" their "failure" to fulfill resolutions on . . . a lack of time, resources, motivation or a loss of "zeal" after starting . . .
And only 16% of all people that make "New Year's Resolutions" . . . are actually able to "follow" through . . . and complete their mission.
So why is that???
Well . . . many times this happens due to our "goals" being too "lofty" or "overwhelming"
And with this . . . we give up too "easily" . . . or maybe our "resolution" was too vague or would be a "financial burden"
But the biggest reason for "many" of us . . . is the need for . . . "INSTANT GRADIFICATION"!
You see . . . the problem with most "resolutions" is this . . . we tend to "jump" to the end of the "story" . . . rather than trying to "navigate" the "journey".
We lose the concept that "GOALS" are the "OUTCOME" . . . whereas "RESOLUTIONS" are the "ACTIONS" that get us to our "goal". So this year . . . let's take a different perspective and approach to our "resolutions" and therefore . . . our "GOALS"
Okay . . . so what are some of the most common "resolutions" in today's world???
Well . . . the top 10 would be . . .
Lose weight
Exercise more
Quit smoking
Quit drinking
Spend more time with family
Enjoy life more
Get out of debt
Get organized
Learn something new
And help others.
But again . . . the "point" many of us are missing in this journey is this . . .
In order to accomplish "any" mission . . . we FIRST need to make a "resolution" that we're going to practice "mindfulness" . . . exercise our brain . . . and channel compassion for ourselves . . . this is called "positive self-talk"
And WITHOUT "positive self-talk" . . .
This can "feed" anxiety, depression and low self-esteem . . . and that right there my friend . . . is just another reason we give up "too easily" on our "New Year's Resolutions".
So let's take a moment and make working on "ourselves" a "priority" resolution this year.
"Don't" CHANGE because a "New Year" is coming . . .
But rather . . . CHANGE for your own personal growth..
Because . . . "RESOLUTIONS START WITH "YOU" and "WITHIN"!!!
