"MMC" and the "Vagus Nerve"

So yesterday . . . we left off asking the question . . . how can our "Migrating Motor Complex" become "damaged" or "stop" working???

Well . . . the most "common" reason is . . . "GRAZING"!!!

THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE . . . "GRAZING"!!!!

Those of you that "graze" all day long . . . or eat every 2 hours . . . "NEVER" let this system "complete" its cycle . . . and therefore . . . food gets trapped in the "stomach" and "small intestine".

REMEMBER I TOLD YOU . . . MMC doesn't even START working for 90 minutes after you've finished your meal.

And it takes 120 minutes after that . . . to do its job of "cleaning" the stomach and small intestine for the next meal.

So let's do the math people . . . 90 + 120 = 210 minutes of NONE EATING . . . that's 3 and a half hours of NO FOOD AT ALL between meals.

Do you do that???

Okay . . . so another reason would be . . . "STRESS"!!!

And this is due to "blood flow" being directly distributed to our "fight or flight" reaction when we are in any kind of psychological or physiological "stress" . . . instead of "blood flow" going to our abdomen!

And finally . . . a sluggish "Vagus nerve" . . .

So how can we "fix" our "migrating motor complex"???

Well . . . eliminating "stress" and stimulating the "vagus nerve" are very important (which we'll talk about soon)

But . . . most importantly . . . by doing simple things like . . .

"Fasting" between meals . . . with guidelines of "NOT" eating "ANYTHING" for 3 - 4 hour between meals.

And having a 12 - 14 hour interval between "dinner" and "breakfast" . . . this is when you're sleeping and should be "fasting".

Another way would be to "increase" your tolerance of "high" FODMAP products

Or consuming "prokinetic" food that help to regulate our MMC.

So tomorrow, let's talk about what "food" and "herbs" can help this process . . . then we'll continue with "stimulating" the Vagus Nerve.
