"Omega-3 fatty acids" and "ADHD" - continued

So we've been talking about "ADHD" . . . and I guess the next question we need to ask is this . . .

Why is "ADHD" more "common" today . . . than it was years ago???

Well . . . conventional medicine says . . . this is due to a "rise" in access to healthcare . . . a "decrease" in stigmatization about receiving mental health care . . . and a greater awareness of the symptoms of "ADHD" by clinicians, guardians, educators and parents.

But . . . in the "alternative medicine world" . . . they say . . . it's due to this Western diet we all love so much.

Okay . . . so another question we need to ask is this . . .

Are we "born" with "ADHD"???

Well . . . again, conventional medicine says . . . "ADHD" tends to run in families . . . and therefore . . . they feel this is a gene you "inherit" from your parents. Research shows that parents and siblings of someone with "ADHD" . . . are more likely to have "ADHD" themselves.

But personally . . . I would have to called "BS" on that one . . . because the only thing we "inherit" from our parents or family are "HABITS"

Okay . . . so let's talk about some of the food that can trigger an "ADHD" reaction.

And they would be . . .

Milk

Chocolate

Soy

Wheat

Eggs

Beans

Corn

Tomatoes

Grapes

And Oranges

And what are the "standard" treatments in "conventional medicine" for "ADHD"???

Well . . . in "adults" it would involve medication, education, skill training and psychological counseling . . with "no" cure.

And in "children" . . . medication, behavior therapy, counseling and education services . . . but again . . . there is "no" cure.

So what is the most "used" treatment for "ADHD" in both children over the age of 6 and adults???

Well, that would be . . . a synthetic drug called "Methylphenidate".

It belongs to a group of medicines called "stimulants" . . . which work by "increasing" the activity in the part of the brain that controls attention and behavior.

It stimulates the "central nervous" system.

But . . . the "bad" part about this drug is that . . .

"Methylphenidate" can put a "strain" on the heart and nervous system . . . "increasing" heart rate and blood pressure.

And on a lessor note . . . this "drug" can also cause dizziness, drowsiness, change in vision, depression, sadness, fatigue . . . and "ANXIETY"

WAIT A MINUTE . . . BACK UP THERE . . .

"ANXIETY" . . .

"ADHD" patients are already dealing with "anxiety" . . . why would they want MORE!!!

Okay . . . so tomorrow, let's see where "Omega-3 fatty acids" fit into this equation.
