"Prostate Cancer" - continued

So today . . . let's continue on with understanding the "prostate gland" . . .

Now . . . the "prostate" is a walnut-sized "gland" . . . that is found between the "bladder" and the "penis" . . . with the "urethra" running through the center of the "prostate".

This "piping" system . . . "IF" healthy . . . allows "urine" to flow out of the body . . . and secrete fluid that nourishes and protects "sperm".

BUT . . . "IF" . . . the "prostate" is "ENLARGED" . . . this is called "benign prostate hyperplasia" (BPH).

This occurs when the "cells" of the "prostate gland" begin to "multiply" . . . and these additional cells . . . cause the "prostate gland" to SWELL . . . which in turn . . . "squeezes" the "urethra" . . . and limits the flow of urine.

And unfortunately . . . BPH is common in men older than 50 years.

Okay . . . now, in the "prostate gland" . . . "testosterone" is converted to another hormone called . . . dihydrotestosterone (DHT) . . .

And "IF" . . . the body makes "TOO" much of this DHT . . . it can cause the cells in the "prostate" to "ENLARGE" . . . causing BPH.

This is also the hormone that makes us "lose" our hair . . .

So, what can cause an "increase" of DHT you ask???

Well . . . a diet that consists of fatty meat, dairy products, caffeine, spicy foods, French fries, donuts, deep fried fish, fried chicken . . . and drinking "alcohol" . . . with the "regular" consumption of "BEER" being a very high risk . . . that we'll talk about later.

You see . . . "ANYTHING" fried . . . increases the chances of developing "prostate cancer" by about 30 to 37%

AND . . . eating "EGGS" . . . 2 to 3 times per week . . . which are the richest source of "choline" . . . can "increase" the risk of lethal "prostate cancer" by . . . 81%.

Now . . . some of the symptoms of "prostate issues" would be . . .

Frequent urge to urinate

The need to get up many times during the night to urinate

Pain or burning when urinating

Painful ejaculation

Frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, pelvic or upper thighs

Or dribbling of urine

So next week . . . let's talk about the effect "alcohol" and its "ethanol has on the "prostate"

Have a safe and healthy weekend . . . and please stay "mindful" of your world.
