"Prostate Cancer" - what do we know?

Okay . . . so we just spoke about the #1 most diagnosed cancer being . . . "breast cancer" . . .

Well today . . . we're going to talk about the #2 most diagnosed cancer . . . "prostate cancer".

And as with "breast cancer" being the most diagnosed in "women" . . .

"Prostate cancer" is the MOST diagnosed cancer in "men . . . and the "second" most common cancer "overall"

So, what's it all about???

Well . . . the American Cancer Society estimated that in 2023 . . . in the U.S. . . . there were about 288,300 new cases of "prostate" cancer diagnosed . . . and about 34,700 deaths from this disease.

"Prostate cancer" normally is a very "slow" growing cancer . . . with research stating this form of cancer could be growing for up to 40 years before it is detected.

And if "detected" and "treated" in the "early" stage . . . "prostate cancer" can be "cured".

And with this . . . studies show that about 90% of "prostate" cases ARE discovered in the early stage . . even though they've been silently festering for years.

Okay . . . so what about the "survival rate"???

Well . . . the relative 5 year survival rate is nearly 100% . . . the relative 10 year survival rate is 98% . . . and the 15 year rate is 91%.

WHOO HOO . . . thank you Lord Jesus!

Now . . . when is "prostate" cancer most likely to be diagnosed???

Well . . . about 2/3 of all "prostate" cases are diagnosed in men age 65 and older.

But . . . the older the person is . . . the LESS aggressive the disease is . . . especially after the age of 70.

Okay . . . so what if we "don't" detect is "early" enough???

Well . . . "prostate" cancer then starts to "spread" to other parts of the body . . . with almost always going to the "bones" first.

Now . . . since we just spoke about the effect "alcohol" (ethanol) has on breast cancer . . .

Let's ask the question . . . how does "alcohol" (ethanol) . . . effect "prostate cancer"???

Well . . . tomorrow let's learn a little more about the "prostate" . . . and then we'll find out how "alcohol" can effect its health.
