Protecting our "Health" with "Lysine"

So we've now discovered there's an amino acid called "lysine" . . . that may be able to save the day when it comes to "viruses" such as herpes, shingles, influenza and possibly the "coronavirus".

Simply said . . . "Lysine" also know as "L-lysine" . . . will "reduce" the viral shedding we spoke of the other day.

And when taken in appropriate dosages, it can slow/stop a virus from "replicating" allowing the body to attack the virus and kill it.

You see . . . "lysine" actually balances out "arginine" in the body. So when we consume foods high in "arginine" . . . consuming foods high in "lysine" will counteract this extra "arginine" in the body. It's all about a balancing act between the two.

And the reason we have this problem of lack of "lysine" to protect us . . . is due to the body not having the ability to make "lysine" itself. We must get "lysine" from our food or a supplements.

"Lysine" has many other benefits which we'll talk about on another day, like being so very important for the immune system because it increases levels of specific "antibodies" like IgG, IgA and IgM, which fight off dangerous and damaging pathogens like bacteria, fungus, parasites and viruses.

So you can clearly see . . . just how important it is to supplement the body with "lysine".

Okay . . . so what are the foods that are high in "lysine"???

Well . . . that would be . . .

DAIRY-BASED PRODUCTS - yogurt, cheese, milk

SEAFOOD - oysters, shrimp, snails

MEAT - beef, pork chicken

NUTS, SEEDS - pumpkin seeds, pistachios, macadamia nuts and cashews.

GRAINS - quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, seitan

LEGUMES - tempeh, tofu, soybean, kidney beans, navy beans, black beans, chickpeas and hummus, lentils, edamame

VEGETABLES AND FRUIT - avocados, dried apricots and mangoes, beets, leeks, tomatoes, pears, green and red peppers, potatoes

Now . . . if you noticed from yesterday's Health tip . . . pumpkin seeds, cashews, milk, yogurt, cheese and the white meat from chicken are also listed as being "high" in "arginine".

Which would be absolutely true . . .

You see . . .these foods also contain "lysine" and the "lysine" content is "higher" then "arginine" . . . therefore, the "lysine" blocks the level of "arginine" in these foods.

SO . . . we are still able eat them and benefit from that foods nutritional value!!!

Whereas . . . peas, "chocolate", carob, oats, whole "wheat", anything with "white flour", peanuts and anything containing peanut oil, soybean and anything containing soybean and wheat germ are higher in "arginine than "lysine".

And . . . one of the reasons we have this problem of "too much" arginine in the body, is due to our Western diet . . . because we love grains and chocolate . . . and they're very high in "arginine'.

So in the ca
