So what exactly is "Winter" doing to our "Hair"

So unfortunately . . . increased "hair shedding" is one of the winter season's "UNWANTED" gifts.

You see . . . as autumn turns into winter . . . the "cooler, dryer" air can lead to us "LOSING OUR HAIR"!

Why you ask???

Well . . . 3 of the "biggest" reasons would be . . .

Stress

Holiday eating and drinking

And dryness.

So let's break it down to better understand . . .

Winter weather is "harsh" on "all" textures and types of hair.

And our "hair" needs protection from the "cold" . . . to remain its soft and healthy glow.

And WITHOUT this "protection" . . . it can become dry, flat, brittle, full of static electricity and now we notice . . . unsightly split ends.

Okay . . . so if the "cold temperatures" weren't bad enough for our "hair" . . . now add to that the excessive indoor heating to our body and "hair" . . . and . . . BOOM . . . we now find ourselves with not only dry, flat, brittle, staticky, split end "hair" . . . we now have issues of a tight, itchy scalp.

So simply put . . . wind and cold/dry air . . . suck "moisture" out of our "hair" . . . leaving it brittle, weaker and more prone to breakage.

And how does this happen???

Well . . . cold/dry air causes the "follicles" of the "hair strands" to "LIFT" . . . and with this . . . "moisture" doesn't stand a chance of staying locked into the "hair shaft".

And what about our "hair falling out"???

Well . . . as I just mentioned . . . when we spend time outside in the cold temperatures . . . our scalp becomes dry . . . which can lead to "hair loss". And this is due to the "hair" becoming brittle due to "lack of moisture" . . . leaving us with noticeably thinner hair.

So tomorrow . . . let's continue with some ways to help prevent "hair" damage.
