"Stimulating" the "Vagus Nerve" - continued

So, after taking everything we discovered from yesterday and last week's discussion into consideration . . .

What actually happens . . . when the "vagus nerve" is "stimulated"???

Well . . . as I stated earlier . . . all cranial nerves come in "pairs" . . .

And #10 . . . the "vagus nerve" . . . runs down each side of the body . . . from the lower part of the brain . . . through the neck . . . through the check . . . and then to the digestive tract (stomach and intestines).

And when this nerve is "stimulated" . . . electrical impulses . . . travel to areas of the "brain".

And with this . . . these impulses . . . "alter" brain activity to treat certain conditions and aid in organ response.

Now . . . there are several ways to "stimulate" this nerve to "optimal production" . . .

And they would be . . .

Tapping

Eye movement

Sleep

And controlled breathing or even chanting

But first . . . how can we tell if this nerve is "malfunctioning" in the first place???

Well . . . there's a simple "test" you can do at home . . .

Now . . . you "may" need a partner to do this . . . or a good mirror to see your reflection in . . . AND a "flashlight" . . .

Okay . . . ready???

Open your mouth . . . as "wide" as you can . . . and depress your tongue down . . . you may need to use a tongue depressor or your finger to push the tongue down far enough . . . so you can "see" the "back" of the throat.

Next . . . shine the flashlight at your throat . . . and look in the mirror . . . or have your partner shine the flashlight in your mouth and look at the back of your throat.

Now . . . look at the "UVULA" that drops down right in the center . . . you know . . . that little "punching bag" looking thing that hangs down in the back of your throat.

Okay . . . now . . . perform an "AHHH" sound and hold it . . . and "LOOK" at the "uvula".

"What" you or your partner are "looking" for . . . is a "DEVIATION" . . . of the "uvula" . . . from one side to the other . . .

"IF" . . . the "uvula" PULLS over to one side . . . then that's an indicator . . . that the "vagus nerve" . . . is "DYSFUNCTIONAL".

Okay . . . so NOW . . . do the same "AHHH" sound again and "look" at the "bridge" of skin on either side of the "uvula" . . .

It's the "bridge" of skin that "connects" the "uvula" to the "tonsils" . . . it looks like an "ARCH"!

So . . . how does that look???

Are the "arches" the same on either side of the "uvula"???

Or is one "arch" HIGHER than the other side???

Now . . . with this . . . the "uvula" . . . can be "straight" and NOT be PULLING to one side or the other . . .

But . . . and inconsistent "raise" of an "arch" on one side or the other . . . can ALSO mean . . . a "dysfunctional" vague nerve.

So how did you do???

Well tomorrow . . . let's continue and figure out how to "correct" this issue of a dysfunctional "vagus nerve"
