The "COUNTDOWN" to Christmas is on . . .

Good morning, I'm back . . . and I hope you all had an "awesome" Thanksgiving . . . I know I did.

But now . . . the "COUNTDOWN" to Christmas is on!

So, on my time off from posting . . . I got to thinking . . . why do people and businesses start celebrating Christmas so early these days???

Well . . . I looked it up on Wikipedia . . . and guess what it said . . .

"Economic motivation" . . . The phenomenon is associated with the desire of merchants to take advantage of particularly heavy Christmas-related shopping well before Black Friday in the United States."

I remember as a kid . . . Black Friday was the biggest shopping day of the season . . .

But now . . . as I'm sure you've all experienced . . . there were several Black Friday sale days that started the second week of November.

So was that a "good" or "bad" thing???

Well . . . I guess it depends on how you look at it . . .

It could either mean . . . you had more days to find what you were shopping for . . .

Or . . . because you had more time to shop sales . . . you "bought more" . . . than you had on the list.

But . . . whatever the answer is for your personal shopping experience . . .

This is called the . . . "Christmas Creep"

And what is "that" you ask???

Well . . . the "Christmas Creep" is the "gradual" lengthening of the "Christmas" season.

And this consists of . . .

Early . . . displays of lights, wreaths and decorated trees . . . non-stop advertisements of holiday sales . . . and even non-stop Christmas music.

And with this . . . many displays of Christmas start before "HALLOWEEN"!!!

BUT . . . THE PROBLEM WITH THIS "CREEPING" . . . IS THIS . . .

Beginning our celebration of Christmas . . . or any holiday . . . TOO EARLY . . .

Makes that holiday more of a normal year-round event.

And this now . . . takes away from the "charm" of that special occasion.

It also . . . causes "Christmas BURNOUT" . . .

And although . . . Christmas only lasts a few days each year . . . many of us spend "months" planning for it.

But . . . as enjoyable as all the parties and festivities are . . . if we start too "early" in the season . . . we can become "burnt-out" once the actual holiday is upon us.

And with this . . . many times we find ourselves . . . in the emotional state of just wanting to sit down and . . . "cry"!

Why you ask???

Well . . . this would be due to worrying about how we're going to cope with social situations . . . the pressure to making Christmas extra special this year . . . being sad about anything you missed out on, over recent Christmases . . . and being just plain physically and emotionally "exhausted"!!!

So . . . "pace" yourself people . . .

Have enough energy to actually enjoy the "ambiance" of the season.
