So let me ask you this . . . do you have a "candy hangover" today???
Well . . . the "day after" Halloween . . . not only . . . do many of us have that "sugar let down" feeling . . . we now have retails . . . selling us that candy at . . . "HALF PRICE" . . . enticing us to buy and "EAT EVEN MORE"!
Okay . . . so as I stated the other day . . . consuming "sugar" . . . not only makes you feel "good" for a short time . . . it actually FEEDS the "bad" bacteria, fungus and "archaea" lurking deep within the body . . .
And with this . . . it causes illness, inflammation, weight issues and disease . . . and yes . . . even . . . feeds . . . CANCER! You see . . . our "good" bacteria in the body relies on "fiber" as its "main" food source . . .
Whereas . . . "bad" bacteria "thrives" on sugar and refined carbohydrates for their "main" food source. And with this . . . a diet high in "sugar" throws off the delicate balance within the microbiome (in the intestines) . . . and these changes within the gut . . . can happen very quickly causing "havoc" to the body.
Did you know . . . in as little as 2 - 4 days of eating a lot of candy . . . the roughly 100 trillion bacteria in the digestive system can change for the "WORSE"???
You see . . . sugar can keep the "good" bacteria from "COLONIZING" . . . and this colonization is what "keeps" our gut "healthy" . . . and ultimately US!!!!
All while . . . the "bad" bacteria . . . "FEEDS" on the sugar we give it . . . and with this . . . it divides.
One "bad" bacteria splits . . . and becomes 2 bad bacteria.
2 splits and becomes 4 . . . and so on.
And this "doubling" can occur "quickly" . . . if the conditions are right. Meaning . . . not enough "good" bacteria in the body . . . or the immune system being compromised. So even one day of "sugar" overdose can cause upset in the intestines and the "good" to "bad" bacteria ratio can "CHANGE".
Now we're in trouble . . . and we don't even know it. And when this happens . . . it will cause increased "sugar" craving and "inflammation" throughout the body. So . . . when we consume a lot of sugar in a short amount of time . . .
This in turn . . . causes a "rapid" change to "blood glucose levels".
And that can lead to symptoms that some people describe as a "sugar hangover" . . . which may include headache, nausea and upset stomach. So tomorrow . . . let's figure out how all this works . . .
