So we've been talking all week about "Omega-3 fats" aiding in "optimal health" for adults . . .
But what about our "children"???
Well . . . simply put . . . "Omega-3 fatty acids" . . . are "NEEDED" for "ANY" and "EVERY AGE"!
Especially our "children" . . . and this why!
"Omega-3 fats" are especially beneficial for our children's "brain health".
They can aid in "sleep quality" . . . and "reduce" symptoms of ADHD and asthma.
Now . . . when "babies" are small . . . they get enough "Omega-3 fats" from their mother's milk or from formula milk.
BUT . . . after the age of 1 . . . their diet becomes this Western diet we love so much . . .
And with this . . . they too . . . become "deficient" in "Omega -3 fats" . . . due to the majority of their diet now becomes filled with "Omega-6 fats" . . .
Hence, this Western world we live in.
So how much "Omega-3 fat" is recommended for our children???
Well . . . The U.S. National Institute for Health states:
0-12 months . . .0.5 grams per day
1-3 years . . . 0.7 grams per day
4-8 years . . . 0.9 grams per day
Girls 9-13 years . . . 1.0 grams per day
Boys 9-13 years . . . 1.2 grams per day
Girls 14-18 years . . . 1.1 grams per day
Boys 14-18 years . . . 1.6 grams per day
But as always . . . please check with your own healthcare provider before taking or giving your children any new regiment.
So what about adults???
How much do we need???
Well . . .
Women 19-50 years . . . 1.1 grams per day
Men 19-50 years . . . 1.6 grams per day
Women 51+ years . . . 1.1 gram per day
Men 51+ years . . . 1.6 grams per day
