Time to get in "shape" - part 6

So we've spoken about a lot these past few days.

And today, we continue with the understanding of how to lose weight.

Now . . . for the most accurate measurement of weight . . . you will need to weigh yourself first thing in the morning after the first pee of the day because the body has had adequate time to digest and process the food from the day before.

As we know, another element to measuring weight loss is the flushing out of the body with toxins and excess water weight. The byproducts of fat metabolism leaves the body as water . . . in ways such as through the skin as sweat, the kidneys when you urinate and carbon dioxide through the lungs when you exhale. So we want to make sure all 3 of these elimination avenues are working correctly.

Another important factor to weight loss is "when" to drink water to do that flushing. You see . . . drinking a glass of water 30 minutes before every meal will keep you from overeating and with this . . . it's an effective way to control calorie intake,

It's also very important "NOT" to drink "anything" during a meal or right after a meal . . . any meal!

Why???

Well . . . drinking water or any liquid with a meal may cause "acidity" in the stomach, as water (or any liquid) dilutes the gastric juice released in the stomach and slows down the process of digestion. And with this . . . the undigested food in the stomach can cause acid reflux and heartburn.

So next . . . we need to understand the "mechanics"

As I just started . . . first and foremost . . . if the body is unable to get rid of fluid, toxins, waste, etc. . . . all the dieting in the world will NOT accomplish your mission. And yes, if we starve ourselves we'll lose some weight . . . but we can't sustain that lifestyle and we will just put that weight or even more back on. This is "yo-yo" dieting.

And remember yesterday when we spoke of the natural function of the body to gain and lose weight. Well . . . this is why we become so disproportionate.

So let's use an example . . .

At the beginning . . . when person X gains weight due to consuming too many calories and not burning off the extra calories that this person is not utilizing for energy, this person will gain a layer of fat from the bottom up to their face.

Now, this person X is upset with how they look and feel, so they decide to cut some calories or exercise to lose that layer of fat. Good for them :)

But . . . when person X goes to lose that extra layer of fat . . . this process starts from the face and works its way down the body. Remember what we spoke of yesterday??

People will notice the loss of weight in the face and chest first.

Now, at this point most people get discouraged due to not losing the weight where they wanted (stomach, hips, thighs) or the diet is too difficult to maintain.

So they QUIT . . . and go back to their old eating and lifestyle habits and the gaining process begins again.

But . . . it doesn't start where the body left off . . . it starts at the bottom again and now person X has 2 layers of fat on the lower half of the body and 1 layer where that person had tried to diet and lose the weight the first time.

Do you see where I'm going with this??? This is a yo-yo diet and the body never has the change to correct itself because that person is always playing with an extra 10, 20 or more pounds.

We need to give ourselves a break and fix our internal dialogue. We need to stop abusing our body with dieting.

We need to do the weight loss thing right and complete the cycle. Not give up because the diet you've chosen is too hard to maintain for any length of time.

So how do we do that???????

Tomorrow we'll talk more.
