What is "DAO" and how can it help us?

So yesterday . . . I mentioned an enzyme that was important in "CONTROLLING" histamine in the body.
Well . . . this specific enzyme is called "diamine oxidase" (DAO) . . . it's a "digestive enzyme" produced in the kidneys, thymus and the intestinal lining of the digestive tract.
And its primary function . . . you got it . . . is "breaking down" excess "histamine" in the body.
This is the "ROOT" cause of "histamine intolerance" in the body . . . a lack of this regulating enzyme called "diamine oxidase"
So now I'm sure you're thinking . . . well . . . if the body makes this enzyme . . . how do we become "deficient"???
Well . . . the most common causes of this "deficiency" would be . . . a genetic mutation, certain medications we take, both prescription and over-the-counter, alcohol use, eating large amounts of "histamine-containing foods" . . . and . . . a "bad" bacterial overgrowth"!
And without this enzyme in ample supply . . . "histamine" runs amuck in the body and we can have anything from migraines and headaches to tinnitus, skin reactions and digestive issues like IBS, bloating, flatulence.
You see . . . it's kind of a catch 22 . . .
This Western diet we love so much causes our "bad" bacteria in the body to grow out of control . . . causing a "deficiency" in DAO . . . which causes "histamine intolerance" . . . which causes more "bad" bacteria to grow fast and out of control . . . leaving us with digestive issues . . . and the list of symptoms I gave you on day 1 and 2 of this series.
Okay . . . so how can we increase our DAO???
Well . . . there are supplements on the market today that can add back into the body the correct amount of DAO . . .
There are also "foods" that can increase the production of this enzyme . . . and they would be . . .
Eating the right healthy proteins . . . like grass-fed, organic proteins and fresh seafood.
Eating farm-fresh cage free eggs
Fresh vegetable (except spinach, tomatoes, avocado and eggplant)
Most fruits (except citrus and berries)
Healthy oils like coconut and olive oil
Grains such as rice, quinoa and millet
And what's one of the "biggest" things we can do to "control" the "histamine" in the body???
Well . . . tomorrow we'll find out.
You will be surprised!!!!
