What's the "BIGGEST" reason we fail at "LOSING WEIGHT"?


Well . . . for one . . . the word "DIET"


How many times have we said those words???


"I'm going on a diet"


Well . . . right there . . . we're already in a state of "anxiety".


And why is that???


Well . . . by definition . . . "DIET" means . . . to RESTRICT oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight.


And the word . . . "RESTRICT" . . . is the reason most people fail.


You see . . . with most "diets" we "focus" on what we "CAN'T" eat . . . when we really should be "focusing" on what we "CAN" eat.


So that "focus" on "RESTRICTION" is many times our downfall.


Another reason we "fail" . . . is that we're told to eat in "MODERATION"


But the problem is this . . . our Western diet we love so much is filled with "hyper-palatable" options designed to "override" our brain's satiety signals.


And the "diet" industry is designed to set us up for "failure" by providing quick fixes to people's nutritional and health needs.


This in turn when we "fail" . . . is ensuring that we'll return to their weight loss program or purchase their products in the near future.


But what we really need to know is this . . . all the word "diet" really means is . . . a "way of eating" . . .


And we "all" have to "eat" in order to live . . . so aren't we really "all" on a "diet" of some kind???


So what we "should" be saying . . . is that we're going to choose foods that "promote" a healthier lifestyle.


That word "dieting" . . . makes our mind and body believe we're going to "starve" . . . so it goes into "survival mode" by slowing down our "METABOLISM" . . . and holding onto "FAT" storing . . . while "increasing" our "APPETITE"


Alrighty then . . . now that "wasn't" what we were looking for!!!!


You see . . . when "dieting" . . . we don't follow our instincts to eat when "hungry" . . . but rather . . . only "when" and "what" the regime allows us to eat . . .


And now . . . our body and brain are "screaming" for more calories because we don't think we're getting enough . . . and with this . . . we now "BINGE EAT" all day long.


So setting "SMART" goals is a "must" to accomplish our mission to better health and weight loss.


With "SMART" goals meaning . . .


"S"pecific

"M"easurable

"A"ttainable

"R"ealistic

"T"imely


Our "goal" should "NOT" be just about what we "want" to "LOSE" . . . but rather . . . what we "want" to "GAIN" with our new "health" and "life"???


Right there . . . do you see the difference between a "negative thought" . . . and a "positive thought"?


So simply stating we want to "lose weight" is too vague . . . a "SMART" goal allows us to name a "Specific" goal . . . determine how it is "Measurable" . . . assess if its "Realistic" . . . and celebrate its success in a "Timely" matter.


This "SMART" goal . . . now becomes our . . . "GAME PLAN"


And tomorrow . . . we'll talk "GAME DAY"
