Why "diets" . . . "fail"


Okay . . . so today's . . . a "tough love" . . . kind of day.


I know you "all" want to be "healthy" and at your "optimal" weight . . . that's a given . . .


So why is it soooooooo "hard"???


Am I "not" explaining it well enough???


Carl Rogers once said . . .


"We "think" we "listen" . . . but very rarely do we "listen" with "REAL" understanding . . . true empathy . . . yet "listening" of this very special kind . . . is one of the most "POTENT FORCES" for "CHANGE" in our life."


You see . . . many of us . . . "don't" listen with the intent to "understand" . . . but rather . . . "listen" with the intent to reply.


This meaning . . . we "listen" to the words I've said . . . but did we truly "HEAR" the meaning behind them . . .


So yesterday . . . we spoke about some of the "responses" we tell ourselves when trying to obtain our "goal" of optimal health.


This is our . . . "intent to reply"


So let's go over the list of "responses to dieting" . . . one more time . . .


"Unhealthy snacking" and eating after dinner or late at night . . . are "all" due to the chemicals in the brain we spoke of last week called . . . "endorphin" and "dopamine"


The urge to "snack" when drinking "alcohol" . . . again is due to the "ADDICTIVENESS" of the brain chemical "dopamine". And the urge to drink "alcohol" itself . . . as we now know . . . is ALSO due to this brain chemical and its "addictive" manner.


So what about "not having time to cook or prepare healthy meals"???


Well . . . this again . . . all has to do will the "PULL" for "empty calorie, nutritionally void" foods that we put into our body.


You see . . . when the body is preoccupied by "guilty pleasure" foods . . . the thought of taking time to prep a healthy meal . . . goes right out the window.


Now . . . being "too tired" . . . or "unmotivated" to exercise . . . is again . . . all due to the "empty calorie, nutritionally void" food from this Western diet we love so much.


IT MAKES US "TIRED" PEOPLE!!!


And next . . . "healthy food being too expensive" . . . well . . . that one you'd be "RIGHT" on.


But there are ways to get around the issue


So let's take the rest of this week and talk about some food switching" options . . . and boredom/emotional eating.
