Good morning my friends . . .
I hope you had a safe and healthy weekend.
So, today . . . let's quickly review what we discovered last week about . . . the connection between "bile salts" and IBS . . .
And what connection the "gallbladder" has in all of this discomfort . . .
Then on to the BONE/LIVER Axis.
Now . . . we left off last week talking about "too much" bile salt in the "large" intestine can cause an irritation to the bowel lining . . . causing IBS-D . . . or diarrhea!!!
And "not enough" bile salts in the "large" intestine causing IBS-C . . . or constipation!!!
So, the question for today is this . . .
How does all this discomfort happen???
Well . . . we've spoken about this many time . . . when talking about the "SMALL" intestine and "LEAKY GUT".
You see . . . when the "small" intestine ISN'T properly REABSORBING "bile salts" . . . which is the process called "bile acid malabsorption (BAM)" . . . this causes EXCESS "bile" (too much) to flow into the "large" intestine . . . which can lead to diarrhea and other digestive issues.
Therefore . . . if the "small" intestine . . . is NOT functioning PROPERLY . . . we will end up with IBS-D (diarrhea).
And if the "bile salts" the liver produces aren't "CONCENTRATED" enough . . . we will end up with IBS-C (constipation)
Okay . . . so, tomorrow let's continue and talk about the "gallbladder" . . .
