How "Important" is "POOPING" Regularly??? wed Jan 29th

So . . . we now know . . . color, shape and size of our bowel movement . . . DOES MATTER!!!
And it's "ACTUALLY" . . . a barometer as to HOW HEALTHY . . . WE REALLY ARE!!!
You see . . . many of us . . . "think" we're feeling OK . . . even though we have an ache or pain here and there.
But . . . in reality . . . we're just a "TICKING TIME BOMB" . . . "IF" . . . our bowel movement "ISN'T" . . . what it should be!!!
So, let's break it down even more . . .
When "food" hits the stomach . . . the body releases specific "hormones" like . . .
Gastrin - being the primary hormone that "stimulates" acid secretion during a meal.
and Ghrelin - which we've spoke of many time before . . . that "increases" our appetite
And due to this "normal" reaction . . . called the "gastrocolic reflex" . . .
This process . . . then "tells" the colon to "contract" . . . to move food through the "large" intestine and out of the body as poop!
Now . . . that stool is made up of "undigested" food, bacteria, mucus and dead cells.
And it "normally" smells "organic" due to this combination of elements.
But . . . as we now know . . . it can "also" have compounds that produce an especially "unpleasant smell"!
Now . . . "IF" . . . you have very strong foul, pungent, smelling poop . . . and this happens just once in awhile . . . it's most likely due to something that you ate.
But . . . "IF" . . . that smell is consistent day in and day out . . .
HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!
This is most likely due to . . .
"Dehydration", "undigested" food and "LACK of good bacteria".
And as I mentioned the other day . . . when we DON'T clean our bowel of food waste , , ,
It can cause everything from constipation to diarrhea to diverticulitis . . .
And yes . . . even colon cancer!!!
"Malabsorption" . . . is another common cause of foul-smelling stool.
You see . . . "malabsorption" occurs when the body is unable to absorb the proper amount of "nutrients" from the food we eat for optimal health.
And this generally occurs when there's an "infection" or disease that prevents the intestines from absorbing these nutrients to disperse to the bloodstream for cell energy.
And some illnesses be . . .
Leaky Gut
SIBO and/or IMO
Gluten intolerance
Food allergies
Lactose intolerance
IBD
Crohn's disease
Ulcerative colitis.
Another element is "lack of sleep" . . .
Believe it or not . . . "sleep quality" and GI symptoms such as bloating, constipation, and diarrhea are all connected.
Lack of "proper sleep" affects our hormones.
Remember above, I said that specific hormones tell our colon to contract and move food waste through the large intestine and out of the body . . .
Well . . . if this process doesn't happen . . . then the colon doesn't contract and undigested food just sits in the bowel
And when it does finally get eliminated . . .
IT "STINKS" BAD!!!!
So "IF" . . . your bowel movement makes the rest of the family want to leave the house . . .
You need to make sure your body is . . .
Absorbing nutrients
Staying hydrated
Getting enough "good" bacteria
and getting enough "uninterrupted" sleep.
And tomorrow . . . we'll talk about "digestive enzymes" and what part they play
