Do "Ticks" LOVE YOU?

Good morning my friends . . .
Now, last week . . . we spoke about why "MOSQUITOS" love us . . .
And this week . . . we'll be talking about those nasty "TICKS"
So, the question for today is this . . . Do you know why "ticks" like some people "but" not others???
Well . . . I know people that are "tick" magnets . . . while others can walk for hours in the woods and get nothing.
So, why is that . . .
Well . . . as we spoke last week about "mosquitos" . . . "ticks" are the same.
They can "SMELL" us!!!
That's right . . . just like "mosquitos" . . .
Okay . . . so, let's better understand about "TICKS".
Where do "ticks" live and how do they survive???
Well . . . "ticks" HYDRATE near the soil . . . and if they don't stay hydrated . . . they'll dry out and die.
Now . . . once they've sucked up the moisture they need from the soil . . . they climb up on a plant and hang off the edge to wait for a human or animal to brush past them.
They "wave" their front legs which have a structure called "Haller's" organs.
And these Haller's organs . . . are described as a tiny "sensory pit" that can detect chemicals like . . . CARBON DIOXIDE, ammonia or pheromones.
They can even sense "humidity" and infrared light . . . which include body heat of a warm, blood-filled creature that the tick wants to find.
So, how do they "hunt"???
Well . . . "ticks" have a very keen sense of SMELL . . . and are attracted to COs (carbon dioxide from our breath)
So . . . the more "carbon dioxide" you expel . . . the GREATER risk you have of being a "TICK MAGNET" . . .
So, if you're walking in the woods . . . "huffing and puffing" . . . they can actually "SMELL" you coming!!!
They can zoom in on this "odor" from quite a distance and wave their arms to get a whiff of you.
And . . . "IF" . . . you're sweating, breathing heavily, breathing rapidly or breathing through the mouth . . .
Watch out baby . . . they're comin' after YOU!!!!
And even if you are the MOST well-groomed person . . . they can still detect you from your body temperature.
So, tomorrow . . . let's continue
