So, yesterday . . . we spoke about "what" the "SPLEEN" is . . . and what its "function" is . . .
So, today . . . let's talk about HOW the "spleen" can become ENLARGED!!!
And some reasons would be . . .
Blood cancers like . . . leukemia and Hodgkin's lymphoma
Blood clots in the spleen or the liver
Certain types of anemia
Cystic fibrosis
Infections like . . . mononucleosis, syphilis, malaria and endocarditis
Liver issues like . . . cirrhosis
Inherited metabolic disorders like . . . Gaucher disease
Inflammatory diseases like . . . sarcoidosis
Protein disorders like . . . amyloidosis
An accident or trauma that damages the spleen
Celiac disease
Sickle cell disease
Autoimmune diseases like . . . lupus or rheumatoid arthritis
Or a blood clot that blocks a vessel in the spleen
With symptoms of . . .
An increased heartrate
Nausea
Dizziness
Pain under the ribs on the left side.
Or Pain that spreads to the left shoulder
Now . . . those are all pretty major issues . . .
But, what if the "spleen" is just "AGGRAVATED" and NOT really damaged . . .
Is that a "possibilities"???
ABSOLUTELY!!!
And can you guess why this would happen???
Well my friends . . . AGAIN . . . it all comes back to this WESTERN DIET we love so much!!!
And tomorrow . . . we'll talk about that . . .
