Good morning my friends . . .
I hope you had a "wonderful" wintery weekend!
So, this week . . . we're going to continue with the importance of "UNDERSTANDING" and "LISTENING" to our body for optimal health!!!
You see . . . YOU are the ONLY one that has the "privilege" of this "conversation"!!!
Your doctor . . . ONLY knows . . . what YOU tell him/her.
And yes . . . they can figure some stuff out by taking "blood work" . . .
BUT . . . UNLESS you specifically tell them your "concerns" . . .
The "blood work" they generally take . . . is just your "basic" blood panel.
Which MAY NOT . . . tell the "true" . . . or . . . "whole" story of your health!!!
So, this week let's continue to "understand" what "signs" we need to be looking for.
This way . . . when you do go to your own healthcare provider . . .
You are better informed to . . . INFORM them!!!
And ASK the RIGHT QUESTIONS!!!
How many times have you gone to the doctors . . . ONLY to walk out with more questions than you went in with???
Or maybe . . . you didn't KNOW WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK at all???
So, today . . . let's continue . . . and talk about the "mechanics" of the "muscular" system . . .
What's that all about???
Well . . . the "mechanics" of the system involve . . .
Muscle contraction - where specialized "fibers" shorten in response to nerve signal . . . pulling on bones to create movement.
And this process is the "key" function to our movement, posture maintenance, joint stabilization and heat generation
So . . . what do we look for "IF" this system isn't functioning properly???
Well . . . that would be . . .
Muscle pain - deep, steady ache or sharp localized in the muscle
Joint pain - feeling achy, stiff or throbbing
Weakness - a loss of strength to do activities like running, jumping or climbing
Fatigue - feeling tired all the time with lack of energy
Trembling or shaking - uncontrolled or twitching in the muscles
Balance and gait issues - difficulty with balance, stability or walking
Swelling - inflammation or swelling in the muscles can mean injury
Cramping - involuntary and painful muscle contractions
Reduced endurance - less stamina during physical activity
Drooping eyelids - neuromuscular disorders
Unexpected weight changes - the body may break down muscle for energy, leading to weight loss
So, people . . . it MAY NOT be the fact that we're just getting "older" . . . as to why we feel our "muscles" getting weaker.
It could be a "sign" of a "muscular" system issue!
So, tomorrow . . . let's talk about the "signs" we would look for in a "faulty" NERVOUS SYSTEM" . . .
