Why "DON'T" Diets WORK?

So, today . . . let's talk about. . . why "IF" . . . the "diet industry" is sooooo "magical" . . .
Are roughly 3/4 of the U.S. adult population . . . that's about 75% of us people . . . OVERWEIGHT or OBESE!!!!
With about 1/2 of that 75% . . . being classified as OBESE . . .
What's wrong with this picture PEOPLE???
And with this . . . "obesity" rates have more than doubled since 1990
So, what's the DRIVING FORCE to this illness???
Well . . . we don't move a much as be used to . . . the government has set "larger" portion control on our labels . . .
And most EATING STYLES . . . are high in fat, sugar and calories . . . all due to the "brainwashing" of this Western diet we all love so much!!!
So . . . what's the government, pharmaceutical and diet industry's answer to our weight issues???
Well . . . as of 2024 . . . new weight-loss "drugs" like Ozempic and Wegovy . . . were introduced into the "diet world" . . .
But . . . is that the answer???
Well . . . we'll talk about that later . . . but first . . . let's figure out "why" diets don't work!
You see . . . diets often "fail" . . . because they "trigger" biological defenses in the body.
When "focusing" on too many restrictions . . . rather than balanced and long-term habits . . .
Our metabolism SLOWS down . . . which increases our "hunger" hormones
And with this . . . we spend most of our adult life . . . on "yo-yo" diets . . .
Weight up . . . weight down and on and on . . . you know the drill!!!!
You see . . . when we "diet" and restrict calories or certain foods . . . the body is always "fighting" to return to its "SET POINT" weight . . .
Making extreme restriction counterproductive . . . and sets us up for "failure"!!!
And what's the "set point theory" you ask???
Well . . . our "brain" defends a natural weight range . . . or . . . "SET POINT"
This is what our body feels comfortable at . . . due to gender, height and race.
And weight loss . . . puts us "outside" this range . . .
Therefore . . . the body sees this as "starvation" . . . which activates a "survival mechanism" to get you back to that "set point" weight.
And this is the process the body goes through when "dieting" . . .
So, "why don't diets work"!
