"ANTACIDS" - do we really need them?

Good morning my friends!!!!

So, this week . . . let's talk about "all" those "ANTACIDS" we take . . .

Especially . . . around the "holidays"!!!

With many people taking them . . . on a "daily" . . . and/or . . . a "regular" basis!!!

So, we need to LISTEN UP PEOPLE . . . and "truly" understand what we're doing to our body by taking these drugs!!!

Okay . . . so, first question . . . What is an "ANTACID"???

Well . . . an "antacid" . . . is an over-the-counter medication that "neutralizes" stomach acid to provide fast, TEMPORARY relief from . . .

Heartburn

Acid reflux

Indigestion

and Upset stomach

And . . . they do their "magic" . . . by using "alkaline" ingredients like . . .

Aluminum

Calcium

Magnesium

and Sodium salts

Sounds pretty simple and "harmless" . . . right???

And . . . how many of us . . . partake in this "temporary" relief???

Well . . . the U.S. National Library of Medicine states . . .

"Approximately 10% of the U.S. population has used antacids in a 2-week period, and about 1/2 of all American adults have used them at some point."

Sounds like a little "DOWN-PLAYING" to me . . . don't you think!!!

And doctor's #1 recommended "antacid" is . . .

Mylanta Liquid Antacids

With "antacids" being used 3 to 4 times PER DAY . . .

Okay . . . so, how "big" is the "Antacids" market really???

Well . . . it was estimated that 6.6 BILLION U.S. dollars in 2022 were sent . . . and 6.81 billion in 2023 . . . with no data for 2024 or current as of yet.

But . . . I can only imagine . . . the numbers would be BIG . . . especially in today's stressed out" world!!!

So, tomorrow . . . let's talk about our "stomach" and its proper function to better understand "why" antacids are slowly killing us.
