"Candida" and "Psoriasis" - continued

So, yesterday . . . we discovered that there is a "connection" between the "fungal" infection called . . . "Candida" . . . and "Psoriasis".

So, today . . . let's continue to better understand . . .

Science "doesn't" fully understand "psoriasis" . . . but . . . it is thought to be an "immune system" issue . . . where "infection-fighting" cells attack . . . "healthy" skin cells by "mistake.

And with this . . . skin cells are "replaced" more "quickly" than normal.

Now . . . as many of you know . . . "psoriasis" . . . is when patches of skin become "scaly" and "inflamed" . . . most often on the . . . scalp, elbows and/or knees . . .

But . . . other parts of the body can be affected as well.

Now . . . the other day . . . when we were talking about what "Candida" is . . . and how we can acquire an "overgrowth" of this "fungus" that already lives in the body . . .

And one of the issues that causes an "overgrowth" of this "fungus" is . . . a vitamin "D" deficiency.

Well . . . guess what???

"Psoriasis" has the "SAME" deficiency . . .

Hence yet . . . another "connection"!!!

And in the "Alternative world of medicine" . . . many times "oral vitamin D" supplementation . . . has given a patient a "complete" remission of their "psoriasis"!

Okay . . . so, next question . . . what happens "IF" . . . "psoriasis" goes "untreated"???

Well . . . it can cause . . . "wide-spread" inflammation throughout the body.

And over time . . . this "chronic inflammation" . . . can cause "damage" to everything from blood vessels, nerves and organs . . . to digestive function and vision.

"Psoriasis" has also been linked to diseases such as . . . systemic lupus erythematosus, autoimmune thyroid disease, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, vitiligo, Alopecia areata . . . and obesity.

And "IF" . . . left untreated . . . patients with "psoriasis" are in a "higher" risk for cardiovascular disease, depression and type 2 diabetes.

And "ALL" this . . . is due to the "fungal" overgrowth called . . . "Candida"!!!

Now . . . remember . . . "psoriasis" . . . "DOES NOT" . . . weaken the "immune system . . .

But, rather . . . "psoriasis" . . . is a "product" of an "OVERACTIVE" immune system.

Meaning . . . the immune system is "desperately" trying to "rid" the body of the "fungus" causing the "psoriasis".

Okay . . . so, tomorrow . . . let's talk about what some "triggers" are causing a "flare up".
