"Fiber" and "Menopause"

Okay . . . so, the big question for today is this . . .


How do we REDUCE . . . or . . . get rid of HOT FLASHES???


Or better yet . . . NOT GET THEM AT ALL???


Well . . . we first need to know . . . what "causes" a HOT FLASH in the first place???


And that would be . . .


When "estrogen" levels DROP during Menopause . . .


You see . . . the brain's "limbic system" which controls the body's "thermostat" . . . becomes more "sensitive" to hormonal "changes" in body.


And with this . . . the brain needs to "reset" this system . . . which causes a "rise" in body temperature and triggers a "hot flash".


And this is done by . . . opening up blood vessels and activating "sweat glands" . . . to COOL DOWN!!!


And . . . "IF" . . . you ALSO . . . have a "Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth" brewing . . . leading to . . . "mast cell activation" . . .


This ALL causes "HOT FLASHES"!!!


Okay . . . so, with that being said . . . HOW DO WE GET RID OF THEM???


Well . . . one of the "easiest" ways . . . is to eat more "FIBER"!!!


You see . . . a diet "rich" in "fiber" can help to "regulate" our hormones . . . and "stabilize" blood sugar levels . . . which can potentially . . . lessen the "severity" of "hot flash" symptoms.


So, let's better understand this process . . .


"Fiber" helps "regulate" the "Limbic system" . . . primarily through its "impact" on the GUT/BRAIN Axis . . .


Remember, we spoke about the LIVER/BRAIN Axis last month . . .


Well . . . the "gut/brain axis" . . . produces short-chain fatty acids . . . that "directly" signals the "brain" VIA the "vagus nerve" . . . which we've spoken about MANY times before also . . . being the body's "communication highway"!!!


And this process . . . influences our . . .


Mood

Appetite

and Stress response (fight, flight or freeze) remember???


So, in a nutshell ladies . . .


A healthy "gut" . . . filled with "fiber" . . . controls our "limbic system" . . . AND . . . our "mast cell activation" production . . .


And therefore . . . promotes a more balanced emotional and temperature state.
