Okay . . . so, today . . . let's dig a little deeper into the devastation this "starch" . . . does to our health . . .
Now . . . in a nutshell my friends . . .
"Modified Corn starch" . . . is a "Maize" (corn) derived food ADDITIVE . . . physically . . . chemically . . . or enzymatically . . . treated to improve its functionality . . . as a thickener, stabilizer or emulsifier . . . in processed foods.
And with this . . . it becomes ideal for . . . enhancing texture, preventing caking and increasing the shelf life of . . . processed food!!!
BUT . . . it's a highly "modified" CARBOHYDRATE!!!
And again . . . like "maltodextrin" . . .
It's found in . . .
"Instant foods" . . . as a thickening for food like pudding and sauces
"Sauces & Soups" . . . providing a smooth, stable, and consistent viscosity texture, preventing lumps
"Frozen foods" . . . which prevent ingredients from separating during freezing and thawing
"Dairy products" . . . it improves creaminess and acts as a fat replacer in low-fat yogurts
"Baked goods & snacks" . . . it retains moisture, enhances shelf life and keeps snacks crisp
And "Coatings" . . . it's used to create the coatings for FRIED FOODS
MY GOSH PEOPLE . . .
WHAT IS "WRONG" WITH THIS SYSTEM???
So, next time you pick up that bag of CHIPS . . .
OR . . . a can of soup, instant pudding, LOW-FAT ice cream, cheese sauce, powder coated foods like . . . cocoa dusted almonds . . . or any candy . . .
PLEASE . . . THINK TWICE!!!!
And the FDA's justification is this. . .
"Modified Corn Starch" has NO NUTRITIVE VALUE . . . hence, it is extensively used in processed food products and it DOES NOT disturb the nutritive value of any food it is added to."
So, tomorrow . . . let's continue with "Modified FOOD Starch" . . .
