"Oxalates" - Good or Bad?

So, yesterday . . . we spoke about the devastation "oxalates" have on the human body . . "IF" . . . not managed well . . .
So, today . . . let's continue . . .
Now . . . what are the "sources" of this little "crystal" you ask???
Well . . . they would be . . . leafy greens, nuts, seed, fruit and chocolate . . .
With the HIGHEST levels being in . . .
Spinach
Rhubarb
Beets
Swiss chard
Almonds
Cashews
Soy products
Cocoa
And about 75 - 80% of all "kidney stones" . . . are made from these "calcium oxalate" . . .
So . . "IF" . . . this is YOU . . .
You need to learn how to control your "oxalate" intake!!!
And that goes for the . . . "gallbladder stone" . . . and . . . "tonsil stone" . . . people also!!!
Now . . . how does all this work???
Well . . . due to "oxalates" binding to "calcium" in the gut . . .
They "reduce" the absorption of that mineral (calcium) . . . making "high-oxalate" foods POOR sources of calcium . . .
It's kind of a catch 22 my friends . . .
You see . . . we try to eat "healthy" foods . . .
By consuming ALL those healthy . . . greens, nuts, seeds, fruits, grains and legumes . . .
Because we think we're doing the right thing . . . right???
But . . . when the "oxalates" in greens, nuts, chocolates, etc . . . EXCEED . . . the amount of "calcium" in the body . . .
This "antinutrient" called "oxalate" . . . binds to our "calcium" in our gut . . . leaving us deficient in this mineral . . .
Now . . . logically . . . one would think . . .
"IF" . . . we're consuming healthy foods that contain these "oxalates" AND "calcium" . . .
Because most of the foods that contain "oxalates" . . . ALSO . . . contain "calcium" . . .
They would "counteract" each other . . . leaving us with NO HARM . . . NO FOUL . .
right???
But . . .
The problem here is this . . .
We not only get "oxalates" from the food we eat . . .
But . . . the body ALSO produces "internal" oxalates as a "metabolic byproduct" . . .
And NOW . . . unless we UP our "calcium" intake WITHOUT the "oxalates" . . .
We have an unequal levels of "oxalates" vs "calcium" in the body!!!!
So, tomorrow . . . let's talk about the "symptoms" we should be looking for . . .
