So, this week we spoke about the emotion of "GRATITUDE"!
And how it affects us all!!!
We spoke about "humility" . . . being an emotions that is far and few between.
And unfortunately . . . only 10 - 15% of today's population . . . demonstrates high levels of "humility"!
You see . . . "humility" . . . has been "portrayed" . . . as a feeling or action of "low self-regard" and "sense of unworthiness" . . .
But, in reality . . . "humility" . . . is about being modest . . . and humble . . .
It's about having an "accurate" opinion of oneself . . .
You see . . . "humility" is a sign of "inner" STRENGTH and WISDOM.
And expressing oneself with "clear" goal orientation, openness, broad-mindedness and an non-imposing mentality!
It's about being "humbled" to the fact that . . . we are "no" better than the next person . . .
We all breathe to survive and our heart pumps to sustain us.
And a "humbled" person acknowledges mistakes and is aware of their limitations.
You see, "humility" . . . is characterized by "GRATITUDE" and the freedom from "arrogance" and "entitlement"!!!
So, how do we show our "humility" in today's world???
Well, we would want to practice . . .
Accepting feed back
Acknowledging our mistakes
Asking others for help
Actively listening
Asking questions
And Learning more
Now . . . I do understand . . . for many . . . these are "hard" emotions to accomplish . . . especially in today's world.
But . . . for the human race to survive . . . we "NEED" to try!!!
"Humility" . . . is about . . . putting others' "NEEDS" before our own . . .
So, if you're celebrating this Christmas season and its "real" reason . . .
Remember . . . the "humility" of Christmas day was this . . .
Jesus emptied Himself of the privileges and power He had as God.
He identified with our "fallen" race . . .
And He took the lowest place He could take when He came to earth . . .
because He came as a "servant" to everyone!
So, I ask you to "humble" yourself this season . . . in order to receive the blessings of the Savior's humility"!!!!
And remember this . . . if nothing else this Christmas season . . .
The opposite of "pride" . . . is "humility"!
Ezra Taft Benson once said . . .
"Pride" is concerned with "WHO" is right . . .
"Humility" is concerned with "WHAT" is right . . .
So, let's practice this during the "blessing" of this season . . .
And start the new year with "humility" and "gratitude" in our hearts!!!
Willian Arthur Ward once said . . .
"Feeling GRATITUDE and NOT expressing it . . . is like wrapping a present and NOT giving it"!!!
So, let's "change" this world . . . and be "grateful" we woke this morning . . . and that family and friends surround us . . .
Because in a "blink of an eye" . . .
THEY "WILL" BE GONE!!!
So, go out there this holiday season . . . and shower the world with "gratitude" my friends!!!
Stay safe and healthy . . . and always remember to be "mindful" in your world!
