So why are "Pain Relievers" bad for us - continued

So . . . today let's refresh to make sure we understand the body's NORMAL function during an injury . . . OR . . . feeling pain from "inflammation"!

When we're injured . . . NORMALLY . . . damaged tissue releases chemicals called . . . "PROSTAGLANDINS".

These "chemicals" BIND to our nerve endings . . . making them more sensitive and amplifying the "electrical pain signal".

The nerve fibers (nociceptors) then "transmit" and electrical "impulse" up the spinal cord to the brain

And once the brain receives this signal . . . it registers the SENSATION and SEVERITY of the pain.

THIS IS THE "NORMAL" FUNCTION OF THE BODY!!!!

BUT . . . when taking "Opioids" . . .

They BIND to nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord . . . causing nerve cells to "release" LESS pain-signaling neurotransmitters . . .

Which means . . . the nerve cells are LESS LIKELY to fire an "electrical impulse.

And therefore . . . we feel LESS PAIN . . . a slower heart rate and slower breathing!

Now . . . when taking NSAIDs . . . aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc. . . .

These BLOCK the "PROSTAGLANDIN" production we spoke of above.

And by "reducing" the number of "Prostaglandins" . . . NO amplifying of electrical signaling comes from the nerves

But . . . studies show that NSAIDs "not only" block "inflammation" at the injured site . . .

THEY ALSO . . . reduce the sensitivity of the nerves in the whole NERVOUS SYSTEM . . .

NOT GOOD PEOPLE!!!!!

So . . . I know many are thinking . . . I'm good with all that . . . because at least I don't have "PAIN"!!!

And I get that . . .

But . . . let's dig a little deeper to really understand what those "pain relievers" are doing to us . . . and our health.

And tomorrow . . . we'll discover just how damaging "pain relievers" can be to our . . .

Digestive system

Over all GI

Kidneys

Heart

Liver

And their . . . "addiction" . . . prescription or OTC
