Well, today . . . let's better understand what the term "white jug syndrome" really means . . .
Now . . . getting the right amount of water per day . . . is a "GOOD" thing . . .
However . . . drinking the wrong kind of water can be detrimental to ones health . . .
Also, drinking TOO MUCH (excessively large amounts) can have damaging effects on the body.
And when this happens . . . it's called . . . "water intoxication" . . . or . . . "hyponatremia".
This is due to the "electrolytes" in our blood becoming TOO DILUTED . . . causing serious health complications like . . .
Headaches
Nausea
Confusion
Seizures
and in severe cases . . . coma or even death
So, let's break it down even more . . .
"Electrolyte imbalance" - happens when you drink TOO MUCH water rapidly . . . and the "wrong" kind of water!
And with this . . . the body can't "flush" out the excess water fast enough . . . which causes the sodium levels in the blood to DROP.
"Overhydration symptoms" - which is "water intoxication" . . . can cause nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, confusion, headaches, seizures and/or coma
So, YES . . . drinking "water" is GOOD for our health . . .
But . . . we need to take into consideration an individuals . . .
Athletic ability
Climate
Body size
Medical conditions
and if your body is classified with "chronic dehydration"
So, we actually have to learn to "listen" to our body and its "internal dialogue"!!!
And tomorrow . . . let's continue
