Okay . . . so, last week . . . we spoke about "Oxalates" being in "Magnesium" rich foods.
And that they can actually work "against" the goodness of "magnesium" . . . and our "health" . . .
So, what's it all about???
Well . . . "Oxalates" are "natural" compound found in plants . . . that can be harmful in EXCESS . . . (key word here people)
Now . . . these "calcium oxalates" . . . are found in everything from algae to trees . . . and can be "toxic" to animals and humans . . . ONLY if they "accumulate" in the body.
And these "oxalates" in plants are produced to "protect" the plant.
And can be found in . . .
Fruits
Vegetables
Nuts
Seeds
and Grains
Now . . . when we consume these foods . . . "oxalates" are absorbed in the stomach, small intestine and then colon . . . and "eliminated" in our urine or stool.
So, "oxalates" become a "WASTE PRODUCT".
Okay . . . so that doesn't sound so bad . . . right???
Well . . . the problem is this . . .
"Oxalates" can "bind" to "CALCIUM" and other minerals in the stomach and intestines . . . "reducing" . . . their absorption.
And "Oxalates" can accumulate to form "crystal" in the urine . . . which can lead to "kidney stones"!!!
This now . . . can become an issue . . . if the body "can't" eliminate them correctly.
So, what are some of the "symptoms" a high oxalates accumulation in the body???
Well . . . they would be . . .
Headaches
Urinary pain
Genital irritation
Joint stiffness and soreness
Muscle weakness
Intestinal issues
Eye pain
Anxiety
Sleep problems
Weakness
Atherosclerosis
Prostatitis
Mood issues
Burning feet
So, tomorrow . . . let's talk about how to "flush" them out of the body . . .
But, first . . . let's add to the list we started last week of "high" oxalate foods . . .
Raw Spinach - cooking reduces the amount of "oxalates"
Soy products
Almonds
Potatoes
Beets
Navy beans
Raspberries
Dates
Cocoa powder
Okra
Bran cereals and shredded wheat cereals
French fries
Stevia sweeteners
Sweet potatoes
Firm Tofu
