What is our "BODY" tell us - continued

So, today . . . let's talk about the "Integumentary" and "Lymphatic" system . . .

And how they can "talk" to us.

Now . . . the mechanics of the "integumentary" system . . . involve "layers" of tissue and accessory organs that work together as a protective barrier to maintain "homeostasis" through temperature regulation, protection from the environment . . . and fluid balance.

Remember . . . "homeostasis" is the body's way of keeping its "internal" function working correctly . . . NO MATTER what's happening in the environment around us . . .

But . . . what "IF" there's an issue with this system . . . what would we look for???

Well . . . we would look for . . .

Color of the skin - paleness, jaundice, patches of discoloration or unusual bruising

Rashes and bumps - hives or fluid-filled blisters

Lesions - open sores, ulcers or unusual moles that have changed in color, size or shape

Swelling - edema

Dryness and flaking - cracked skin, itchiness and/or tightness

Scaly or rough skin - to the touch

Pain or burning - associated with injuries, infection or conditions like eczema

Wound healing - delayed or impaired healing after an injury

Hair and nails - excessive hair loss, changes in nail texture like brittle, peeling or not growing

Infection - pus or other signs of infection like redness or pain around a wound

These are all signs that our body is telling us our Integumentary system is in trouble.

Next . . . our "lymphatic" system . . . and how it works.

The "lymphatic" system . . . involves a network of vessels that collect excess fluid and waste from tissues . . . move it through lymph nodes for filtration . . . and then return it to the bloodstream.

And "IF" this system is not working correctly . . . we would look for signs of . . .

Lymphedema - swelling in the arms or legs

A feeling of heaviness or tightness in the body

Puffiness - in the face, hands or ankles

Bloating - due to NOT being able to release fluid causing fluid retention

Frequent infections - not being able to fight off bacteria, viruses and fungi

Pain and discomfort - aching in joints and muscles

Fatigue - tired all the time

Reduced mobility - aching, swelling and stiffness

Swollen lymph nodes - can indicate an active infection . . . but also a signal of an overall issue

Thickening or hardening of the skin

Discoloration of the skin

Skin changes - like dryness, bumps, blister or warts

So . . . if you have noticed any of these conditions . . . you may have a "lymphatic" drainage issue.

Okay . . . so, next week . . . we'll continue with the signs we need to look for in the Muscular . . . Nervous . . . Reproductive . . . Respiratory and Skeletal systems.

And just how "important" it is to LISTEN to what our body is telling us . . .

Because . . . IT COULD "SAVE" YOUR LIFE!!!
