Now, yesterday . . . we spoke about the "most" common "human parasite" being "PINWORMS" . . .
And . . . they can be "transferred" from one person to another . . . but "NOT" to or from our pets.
But . . . what about "Giardia lamblia" . . . the "second" most common "parasite" in human???
Well . . . Giardia lamblia . . . is a pear-shaped flagellated "protozoan" . . . that causes a wide variety of "gastrointestinal" issues . . . mainly in the "small intestine" . . . causing the disease called . . . "Giardiasis".
And . . . our "pets" . . . CAN "transfer" this "parasite" to humans . . . even when the animal "doesn't" appear to be sick.
So, even though . . . "pinworms" are #1 . . . it's not "spread" as easily as "giardia" is . . .
You see . . . "Giardia" . . . can "spread" from person to person . . . animal to person . . . or through contaminated water, food, surfaces or objects.
Okay . . . so, what's the "most" common way to get a "parasite" . . . any "parasite"???
Well . . . that would be . . .
Spending time in areas with known parasites like ticks
Contaminated water, foods, soil, blood or feces (poop)
Not washing your hands before eating or drinking
Licking your fingers
Biting your nails
Lack of good hygiene
Having a weak immune system
Contaminated bug bites
Sexual contact
And some "symptoms" to look for would be . . .
Stomach cramps and pain
Nausea or vomiting
Dehydration
Weight loss
Swollen lymph nodes
Digestive problems
Constipation
Diarrhea
Persistent gas
Skin issues like rashes, eczema, hives and itching
Continuous muscle and joint pain
So, tomorrow . . . let's break it down some more.
